PostSubject: A Look At Still Life 2   Mon Jan 11, 2010 2:00 am

Still Life 2 is the lastest installment of stories starting with Post Mortem, continuing with Still Life and finishing up at least to this point with Still Life 2. The three games do interconnect somewhat but all the games do not have to be played in order to play Still Life 2. However you will find that there are things answered and referenced to in the other two games.

With all that said if you are looking for the same game that Post Mortem and Still Life are you won't find it with Still Life 2. First off Still Life 2 isn't a sequel to Still Life even though you will find some answers to Still Life in it. Still Life 2 is more of a continuation of Victoria Mac Pherson's life.

In Still Life 2 we once again find Victoria on the hunt for a serial killer. We find a harder harsher Victoria and at times an unlikable Victoria. But I suppose that sometimes happens to people who hunt done monsters. The story itself is pretty good and and belief doesn't have to be suspended to much. The main portion of the story takes place at a deserted house but the playing are is vast. It took me awhile to move from place to place without getting lost.

Graphically Still Life 2 is not a pretty game But I think that the grittiness helps with the atomophere of th game. There is some interaction with other characters in the game but for the most part it is a solitary search. You play at times as Victoria and at times as Paloma.

Movement in the game was at times slow and sluggish. Then I discovered that if I carried a minumin amount of items the movement improved. That brings us to inventory. All the inventory is not in one place, it is scattered thought areas in the game. This very often results in long treks back and forth to retrieve inventory items. You are limited to the number of items that you can carry at one time.

Puzzles and timed seqences. You will find both . I found the puzzles to be medium to hard on difficuly but logical. The timed sequences however I found to be very difficult and unforgiving. Failure will be gameover. It took me several attempts to get past the timed seqences.

Alot of bugs have been reported withis game. I however found very few. At one point I didn't get phone calls on the cell phone but this did not affect the game. At another point I wasn't able to access a room that I had previously been to. This was however solved by finding another route. I would recommend saving and saving very often.

I played Still Life 2 on win Xp with no install problems.

Yes! Great Job! Yikes - I hated timed sequences!!! I get so nervous!!!
So it's not a continuation of Still Life huh?
I haven't bought Lost Souls yet - I was debating between the 2 but maybe Lost Souls is the way to go now. scratch

Thank you Mystery Lover. I'm not very fond of timed sequences either, especially when they end in game over. The timed sequences weren't very forgiving either. No Still Life 2 isn't a continueation or sequel of Still Life, it is more a continueation of Victoria's life working another case. Lost Souls also has a couple of timed sequences but they are very forgiving and very easily done.

I was very disappointed with all the timed sequences in Still life 2. It had the possibility of being a very good game but the timed sequences were a real bummer.

winfrey I agree about the timed sequences, they were too complicated and unforgiving, just a bit of an overkill. If you'll forgive the pun. And that is really too bad because it did have a very good story. And it was very interesting to see how Victoria had progressed as a character.

I don't know if it's really worth mentioning, but with regard to the timed sequences in Still Life 2, I found that it was very helpful that you at least had the opportunity to save your game at any point through the duration thus gaining the ability to restart and keep on investigating more effiently when the timer got close to "Game Over."

Speaking of timed sequences, anyone care to comment on the first one in The Tree of Life?

Hi Camaro

Welcome To The Point Nice to see you here.

I must be really bad as it wasn't that long ago since I played the Tree of Life but I can't remember the timed event.

Hi Camaro and welcome

Of course it is worth mention the save on the timed sequences. Any help for helping others to get through those timed sequences is appreciated. Thank you.

I haven't played The Tree of Life yet. I think there are some others here who have played it recently or are now playing it.
