Awakening:The DreamLess Castle Empty
PostSubject: Awakening:The DreamLess Castle   Awakening:The DreamLess Castle EmptyMon Feb 15, 2010 5:47 pm

I just bought this game from BigFish. I also got it cheap because of their Presidents day sale!
Anyway, it's a great IHOG!! It's more like a mini adventure game. Not a whole lot of hidden objects to find, but allot of puzzles and a cute story too!
It's about a Princess who awakes after a long sleep. She needs to break spells to free the good goblins who protected her all the years she was asleep. Of course, she has the help of a good fairy queen to show her what she must do.
It was fun, I enjoyed it very much! Very Happy

I downloaded it and played the trial. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure how long it is so I'm "iffy" on purchasing. I did purchase Sweeney Todd and the Nightfall Mysteries one using the Presidents Day code. I decided against Shutter Island as folks have complained that the game is very short (less than 2 hours.)

I also played some Green Moon this weekend. That wild west shooting was a pain! Took me 10 tries to get the bullet. Evil or Very Mad

Awakening: The Dreamless Castle isn't a short game. At least I didn't think so. I finish these fast because I have all to to play!! cheers
Shutter Island could have done better, imo. It should have been more adventure like, instead of the constant finding objects. It would be better to have made it a full adventure, and add allot more scary scenes and sounds.

I never did buy The Green Moon. Is it worth it?

I ended up purchasing Awakening last night while the Presidents Sale was still going on. Glad to hear it's not short. Smile

Green Moon is an adventure game and well worth the money. I wouldn't call it easy...but I wouldn't call it difficult either. You have tasks to do that allow you to progress in the game. Unlike most adventure games where you pick up everything that isn't nailed down, you quiickly learn that since you have a limited inventory, to simply remember where you saw things and then get those items when they are needed to complete a task or acquire an item that you'll need from someone else.

You explore a lot of different places...but the explorations are limited to a certain vicinity so you don't get lost. The puzzles are straightforward and even the arcade like shooting game was doable. The game autosaves at certain points but you learn where and when to save on your own in case you need a 'do-over."

I think I died once, foolishly,...but you go back to a save and continue on.

It's also not a short game...but not as long as most adventures you play.

I think I will use my free game punch card thingy on Green Moon at the end of the month.
Did you see "Dark Circle: A Carol Reed Mystery?" That sounds good too!!
What a small fortune we end up paying for these games eh? Very Happy

You know...you're right, ML. You don't pay $19.99 or $29.99 for a game...but you end up buying 5 or 6 of them at $6.99!

Have you played any of the Carol Reed games? I have two of them on CD....played one. They're different...in that the graphics are photos or watercolor stills. Characters are real actors...in still photos...that you hear their voice-over. The story is basically a mystery to solve.

Many people enjoy the series greatly. I found the game that I played to be "okay"...but I prefer animation in my games.

No I haven't played one of the Carol Reed games as of yet. But that's why i LOVE being allowed to play a full hour for free!! It's so smart on their part. I would be allot more hesitent to buy a game by title only, and the tiny paragragh telling us what it's about.
