Downloaded casual hidden object game Snark Busters: Welcome to the Club at BigFish this morning as a break from playing Lost Horizon, which I'm trying not to finish too soon and I'm already on Chapter Seven, the last one I think. In Snark Busters I'm looking for a Snark, a creature very few have ever seen and nobody has ever captured. So far, it is relaxing and kind of cute, with the main character getting in trouble and being grounded. Already she is making her plans for a getaway!
So, anyone else out there playing casual? You can tell me, I won't snitch on you, promise!

Several people over at MM said they've been having a good time with Snark Busters. I've played a bunch of casual games this year, but I'm usually behind the curve because we Mac users usually get them after they've been out a while for Windows. I just finished Woman in White, a mix of hidden objects, lock puzzles, and inventory puzzles. It had a decent story and nice graphics and was enjoyable.

I'm also a big player of the "casual adventure" type games. Just recently I made a purchase of a few titles on bigfish. I ordered 'The Fall Trilogy Ch 2' as well as a few HOG. I find them kind of hypnotic and relaxing for when I get home from work and want to just have a light challenge. Unfortunately for me, often times those light challenges turn into heavy challenges for me, hehehe.

Hi Lady Kestrel,
I hope you were one of the lucky ones who was able to finish this game. I played it to the labyrinth, saved the game, but when I went back, my save was gone and I was stuck at the beginning with no way to return. Started the game over with a new profile, didn't get even as far as the first time before I had a corrupted save again so couldn't finish. As it happens, I read the classic book by Wilkie Collins a few years ago so I knew the story, and the game followed it fairly closely, leaving a lot out, of course. I also had bought the Strategy Guide so I checked out the ending there. I liked the game a lot, and I would have played it a third time if I was sure I could finish it then, but not knowing stopped me from trying. Even so I really enjoyed the game and glad I played it. I feel I got my money's worth so I'm not bugging BigFish for a refund. I'm just a little sad I didn't get to see the happy ending, but I knew all along it was coming since I read the book.

I only had one little glitch with it, Mindysue. The first time I played it, the opening video with the owl froze my system, and I had to reboot the computer. After that, it played just fine. It's probably a good idea to let the people at Big Fish know what happened. In the past, they've been good about making patches available when needed.

You know, since you mentioned it, I think I have that book. Let me check.

Yup. I just checked. I bought it a while ago in paperback and haven't gotten to it yet. I'll move it up in my to-be-read pile. I don't think I've read anything else by Wilkie Collins, have you?

Well, Woman In White is a classic book written way back somewhere around 1880, I think, in the 1800's anyway. It was one of the very first mysteries ever written way back then. I don't think there were any more books by that author, at least not mysteries, maybe non-fiction. There was something more to the little biography that I read when I ordered the book, but can't remember what it was now. I'm not even sure if Wilkie Collins was a man or a woman. In my book list when I looked it up, it simply has the note "Classic" and 2007, which is when I read it.
About the game's problems with the SAVES, and other glitches, I already checked out the BigFish Forum and they know all about it, believe me. There are posts aplenty and some really steamed gamers wanting refunds! They were working on fixing the problems and maybe they have by now, I haven't checked back as I'm satisfied and moving on with other games.

I read the book the book a long time ago and saw a movie several years ago by the same title. I don't remember much about either one of them. Is this a HOG or an adventure light game ?

It's a bit of a combination, Hats. It has some hidden object scenes, inventory puzzles, and lock puzzles.

Wilkie Collins was a man, a contemporary of Charles Dickens. They ran a magazine together in which they serialized quite a number of both of their novels.

Hi Jen,
Thanks for the information on Wilkie Collins. I had a feeling that I read something about Woman In White being a serial in a magazine before being published in book form, but it wasn't strong enough for me to mention it. I also kept thinking he had something else to do with writing than just the book, so it was the magazine that I had forgotten about, of course, that fits my hazy memory. As for Charles Dickens, I totally forgot about him. But I do remember the time I read "A Christmas Carol" as a kid and thought it was a great short story, never having heard of it, I thought it was my discovery!
Old Marley was dead. Dead as a door nail. Why a door nail and not a coffin nail I do not know ... Something like that is how the story starts and I guess it hooked me from that moment on!

I played Snark Busters - loved it! So fun!!

I started Lady in White but got distracted and when I came back to it the other night it wouldn't open so I checked and sure enough BFG had an update - 200+ mb later and I was ready to play and had lost my profile and progress No

I never read the book - I didn't even know there is/was a book
