Not Sure About These New Monitors Empty
PostSubject: Not Sure About These New Monitors   Not Sure About These New Monitors EmptyWed Mar 30, 2011 5:12 pm

Well it is just after noon here so I guess I can't say good morning but good afternoon everyone. My new Dell computer came with a monitor. I believe it's a 23" flat screen HD monitor. I'm finding that it is so bright that I'm getting headaches. I don't usually get headaches and it doesn't seem to matter how much you turn down the brightness. I know I have to get my glasses changed but I don't need them for the computer screen, but this thing feels like it's burning the retinas out of me. I keep forgetting to do the 20 second look away every 20 minutes, but sometimes I feel dizzy like right now. Anyone else notice this with these monitors or is it just me sunny

It's just you Smile You could try wearing sunglasses Laughing or maybe move the monitor farther away from your face.

Hi Jen, my hubby says he doesn't like these new monitors either or the new LCD tvs. I don't know how much further away I can get from the monitor, I'm sitting about 2 1/2 3 feet away from it and I have the brightness turned down. I don't like to fool around with settings because I always end up messing everything up. I'll have to get my hubby to take a look at it for me or else put the old monitor back on and sell this one sunny

StarLite try move your monitor just slightly so your facing it headon. You can tilt it up or down slightly to see if that helps.

Well I played around with the brightness and contrast then turned the light towards the monitor even though they tell you not to do that. Hubby said he will take a look at it for me and get it set up right. I should go get my eyes tested again and get new glasses sunny

Check if your monitor has a "restore to factory default" in the settings, and if it does, you can go to town on all of the other settings and do no harm.

I can't imagine not loving the LCD monitors. To me, they are such an improvement over the old CRTs, no eye strain, no fatigue, beautiful, crisp images... I could go on. I have all LCD TVs in my house, too.

Hi Jen, I managed to play around with some of the controls to get it a bit darker, but it could very well be my eyes. I'm on medication that makes me sensitive to light sometimes, also ever since the dura in my back was punctured I still have trouble with my right eye. When I went to get my eyes tested the doctor thought he found pressure consistent with Glaucoma but a specialist said he couldn't find anything. Maybe I just need new glasses. Thank you for your help sunny
