PostSubject: Mapoco Mountain   Mapoco Mountain EmptySun Jan 03, 2010 5:45 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm a small time adventure game writer and just thought I'd post a little info on the game me and a great team are currently creating called "Mapoco Mountain" (pronounced Muh-Po-Co Mountain). Developed by ICU Games and Samurai 24 Ent.

Mapoco Mountain 23wjzfa

Info
A new point and click adventure game, Mapoco Mountain follows the story of an unwitting hero named Malakey Wigwam. An apprentice clock maker turned pessimistic wanderer, Malakey is reluctantly pushed onto the broken path of adventure.

Trouble and corruption quickly becomes apparent in the fantasy world of Astrumn Earth when the down and out Malakey stumbles upon a mysterious secret sect known as ‘the Stronghold’, working within the ranks of the so called protectors of the land; ‘the Warrior Legion’. As our unlikely explorer investigates further he is sucked into the conspiracy deeper than he originally thought possible. He soon discovers that his knowledge of a mysterious plan could endanger his own life. Luckily our disgruntled protagonist manages to escape the dungeons, fleeing his home town to unsuspectingly embark on a dangerous journey. Through the mayhem of fallen heroes assisting his escape and an unwanted companion in the form of a smart mouthed imp, Malakey manages to sustain a sarcastic yet humbling outlook on his diminishing life. As his quest intensifies, Malakey eventually leaves his scepticism when he learns he is in fact part of an ancient prophecy. He must locate and help ‘the Shangoole’ - the last true Warrior - in order to stop the Stronghold executing their plan of world domination.

Mapoco Mountain is set in a fantasy world of magical cities and gigantic creatures travelling across ancient lore encrusted civilisations, all presented in enchanting hand-drawn graphics with easy to use point and click mechanics used to guide Malakey through the intrepid depths of Astrumn Earth.

Release Date
Possibly 2011 depending on financial support.

FAQ

Will there be a soundtrack?

Yes without a doubt, here's an example of the music you'll be hearing in the demo.

Will there be voices?

Yes full voice acting will be in the game, even in the demo.

Is it mainly aimed at children in terms of puzzle difficulty, or for all?

Not at all, Mapoco Mountain is aimed at a more mature audience and the puzzles will range from normal to pretty hard. Although there will be jokes along the way it is not a comedy game like Monkey Island for example, there's serious undertones and some dark scenes.

If you've any questions don't hesitate to ask. The demo should be available by March.

Thanks,
JJ.

Hi JJ.

Thanks for popping in. This looks cool! I'm a sucker for 2D Adventures. The graphics look great. I haven't read everything about the game yet, but will there be a soundtrack? Will there be voices, and is it mainly aimed at children in terms of puzzle difficulty, or for all?

Dark scenes sounds interesting. Are there action elements or timed sequences in the game?

Yes, there's an action type of sequence, I don't want to give too much away but it'll be a rarity they way it's done and should be enjoyable. No there won't be any timed sequences although there will be a few "get the timing right" puzzles. The game play is quite traditional, the mechanics are similar to the first two Broken Sword games.

Wonderful it looks like it is going to be a beautiful game. I am curious now if Malakey will change much or stay the same. I am anticipating this game more and more.

Thanks JJ.

Thanks I appreciate it!

Basically what you see here is what you will be playing, his appearance will change very slightly but he has a very beautiful walk cycle.

This is not the cyle we'll be using or his final look, but it's an example I'd like to share. https://2img.net/h/oi49.tinypic.com/34ql4aq.gif

I'm looking at the link you privided right now. Absolutly fantastic, I love the way his hair and shoulder pouch move. The whole movement looks good. I think the final look is going to be great.

Thank you for sharing the link JJ.

No problem!

Yeah attention to detail is very important in MM. Secondary animations are executed perfectly by our animator Fran Gonzales.
