| Ten years ago today a terrorist attack was carried out on our nation. The terrorist destroyed our buildings, our airplanes, murdered almost 3,000 of our citizens. The terrorist didn't accomplish their main goal. They wanted to destroy us as a nation. They wanted to destroy our freedom and our way of life. The terrorist failed to understand who we are as a great nation. They failed to understand that we as a nation are resilient people, that we love our freedom and life. They failed to understand that they couldn't defeat us by destroying our buildings and murdering our people. They failed to understand that we would fight for our freedom and make them accountable for their actions. Like all dictators the terrorists attempt to enslave men through terror. They fail to understand that freedom lives in the hearts of all men.
I mourn the loss of those men, women and children who lost their lives ten years ago today. People who did nothing except get up that day and went about the business of their daily lives. I mourn the loss of the men and women who gave their lives fighting to keep us free and safe. I am proud of these brave people who have given their lives for our freedom and helped make this the great nation it is.
Does it matter is it important that we remember what happened ten years ago? I think it is. It wasn't the first terrorist attack or the first attack of war on us. We as a nation are a tolerant and forgiving people. We don't understand that there are evil people who hate us and want to destroy our way of life. That they hate all the things we hold dear. I think that we must remember that as long as there are evil men they will do evil things.
And let us remember all the men and women who ran to the aid of their fellow man that terrible day. Those men and women are the embodiment of who and what we are as a people.

| It is definetly a date to Remember. I feel sorry for the people who died and the ones who lost their beloved family members and friends. But I don't think that it was a plain terrorist action. I think that it was an inside job. Just like the assasination of JFK. There are many facts which can support this theory, but they are not to be analyzed here. | |

| @AngDMC
Don't be mad about my comment. There are many voices out there which support this theory. Nobody liked what happened and wishes that nothing similar happens again. BUT there are many unexplained things and unanswered questions about the whole incident. It's in the USA where mostly people think that something is not clear about it. If you search a little bit you will realise that by yourself.

| Hi tsampikos, I don't agree with your opinion, but you have the right to express it. That's what freedom means! Tolerance is the ability to allow others to have their opinions even when they are wrong. Well, of course, don't you know, only my opinions are correct. (I feel like I should put some kind of a smiley here, but I don't know which one.) | |

********
Please let's just stick to what this thread is meant to be. That is a simple and tender rememberance thread for the people who lost their lives and others who have suffered in many other ways as a result of this terrible event.
This is neither the time nor indeed are these forums the place to discuss in any further detail subject matter that has affected so many people in so many differing ways.
Please, no more discussion of causality, whys and wherefores of such a very tragic day in American and indeed world history.
The tragedy happened. Let those who wish to remember it do so peacefully and without upset.
I do not wish to have to censor discussions here. Let common sense prevail please.
Thankyou.
Gelert.

| Lets not forget that this was not just an American tragedy but one that affected many countries. The World Trade Center Towers were home to many businesses from all over the world and staffed by people from those countries. They too perished along side of the brave men and women who went in to try and save them. | |

| That was a terrible time. I cried my heart out when those towers collapsed. Such a waste of life. I remember hearing about a 7 year old little girl who begged her father not to go to work because she had a dream that he was going to die, if only he had listened to her. It was an awful thing and I feel so sorry for the families who lost loved ones. That day we were glued to the tv all day and night. 911 changed the whole world that day. | |
