| What games never make it in the top howmany lists, but deserve to be played more? What gems are we likely to miss unless you point them out here? And somewhat related: are there games that you loved while everybody else seems to dislike them? my votes for underrated: Titanic Adventure out of Time Byzantine And I also loved Anacapri and Gilbert Goodmate, but it looks like I'm alone there. Edit: according to the posts below, besides (and in some cases in stead of) the most popular games, you may also want to check: The Arrival Byzantine Cameron Files: Secret at Loch Ness Conspiracies Cracking the Conspiracy Dark Side of the Moon Drowned God Evidence: The Last Ritual Faust: Seven Games of the Soul The Feeble Files Flight of the Amazon Queen Harvest Inherent Evil The Haunted Hotel Jack the Ripper Journey to the Center of the Earth Lifestream Majestic: Alien Encounter Mission Critical Monet: The Mystery of the Orangery Mummy Tomb of the Pharaoh Necronomicon Stupid Invaders Titanic Adventure out of Time Toonstruck Versailles 1685 Zero Critical Zero Zone

| I like Gilbert Goodmate too, but I like each and every cartoon comedy game so... My vote for underrated: Evidence: The Last Ritual (nobody seems to like really tough puzzles ) My guilty pleasure instead is Dementia and no, please, don't play it | |

| Excellent Questions HandsFree and might I add one more question? "Most Overrated Game"
"are there games that you loved while everybody else seems to dislike them?" Paradise
"Underrated Dark Side of the Moon (although it may be due to the fact that it will not play completely on modern computers) Drowned God Faust: Seven Games of the Soul
"What gems are we likely to miss unless you point them out here?" If you love old school sci-fi games then... The Arrival Majestic: Alien Encounter Mission Critical Zero Zone Cracking the Conspiracy
"Most Overrated" The Longest Journey Dreamfall Culpa Innata

| Dementia very nearly drove me to dementia! Not really underrated, but few people tend to talk about it, is Stupid Invaders. An excellent, and long, comedy Adventure. One I liked a lot (apart for one bug near the end that was fixable), was Monet: The Mystery of the Orangery. A nice little Adventure. Versailles 1685. I like that as well. Two others I liked a lot, and that don't get mentioned very, very often, are Toonstruck and The Feeble Files. | |

I also didn't understand why everybody seems to hate Paradise so much. but I didn't experience many bugs, so that might have helped. Just last week I found a cheap copy of The Arrival on eBay. Been looking for Cracking the Conspiracy for some time now, but never saw one. And if I search for Stupid Invaders, I always find something Sega. Is that the same game? I dismissed Zero Critical, but forgot why, so I should probably check that again. My view on overrated: Gabriel Knight 3 Syberia The Longest Journey

Finding a used copy of Cracking the Conspiracy is very rare but there is good news if you would like a new one. It is still in stock at CDAccess
I have started Zero Critical a couple of times and didn't get far. I think it was because I was disappointed in the developer abandoning the 1st person solo exploration that I liked so much in the first two games of the series.

| I don't know why so many people didn't like Paradise either. I really liked it, I thought it had a great ending, I'm still thinking about it.
Some games I've seldom heard mentioned or are very low down on peoples lists
Cameron Files: Secret at Loch Ness Conspiracies Flight of the Amazon Queen Harvest Inherent Evil The Haunted Hotel Jack the Ripper Journey to the Center of the Earth Lifestream Mummy Tomb of the Pharaoh Necronomicon

I must confess I like even the ones I cannot solve After all, if they are fair and they beat me, they deserve my admiration (for example this Outcry puzzle http://www.adventure-treff.de/images/bild.php?bild=screenshots/sublustrum_19.jpg) - Quote :

According to MobyGames, Stupid Invaders is also available for Sega Dreamcast, but there's a PC version too

Actually, the ending of Paradise was the bit I didn't like much. I wanted to know a lot more than the game had revealed to accept that ending. I also enjoyed Secret at Loch Ness, but had to give up on Conspiracies. Everytime I wanted to pick something up, I had to drop something else on the floor. So halfway I had stuff lying around everywhere. All the backtracking to retrieve things became a bit (lot) too much. What did you like about Necronomicon? I've only seen bad to mediocre views on it. I bought it a few months ago from someone who 'sold' it for only shipping costs. She must have not liked it much. Haven't played it yet though. Harvest and Inherent Evil are also on my search list.

| Yes Conspiracies inventory was a problem. I solved it by dumping most of my inventory items in the apatment next to the door. That eliminated the need to remember where an item was and I could go back to the apartment to retrieve something I needed.
Necronomicon : The Lovecraft psycological horror type story is one of my favorites. I liked the 1st person exploration. I liked the puzzles that were hard enough to get you thinking but not so hard you couldn't figure it out. I liked the dark gloominess of it.
