The Scariest Games You Have Played

I love horror games. I love that feeling of dread and that little jolt of fear. I love that feeling of of suspense of not knowing what you will encounter. And that feeling of not being able to move after encountering something that may or may not be there. So do you like to play the scary games. What are are the scariest games that you have played?

I'm not spooked too easily, but a couple of examples for us include

I am not sure that any game has "scared" me. What I can say is there are a few games that had points in them that "startled" me. Namely The Last Half of Darkness games and the same point in scratches that Gelert mentioned. Of course there are lots of games with scary plots but the scariness seems to be only for the characters not he player. Maybe I got this wrong, I will have to ponder the question some more.

I haven't played many scary games, but there were certainly quite a few goosebumpish and startling moments in Amber: Journeys Beyond. I also found the atmosphere of Morpheus quite creepy in spots. I was especially nervous when

Dracula Resurrection and Dracula: The Last Sanctuary had some spooky atmosphere, but neither one was as scary as I had anticipated.

I'd say Scratches and Darkness Within.
Some people claimed The White Chamber is the scariest, so that's one I still want to try.
Anyone here played that?

I didn't find The White Chamber scary at all. So, not me.

Was the White Chamber suppose to be scary?

I don't know, but some people (I forgot where) mentioned it as the most scary game.
So it isn't, I assume.

I could be wrong since it was so long ago but I don't remember it being scary...hey wait a minute...I don't remember any of it....hey....I have forgotten my memory

Most games really don't scare me. But I must admit that I jumped a few times playing The Last Half of Darkness games. They seemed to catch me off guard and they were fast---- BOO! gotta ya

I thought Scratches was scary. Also the Dark Fall games. In fact in the second one, I played it with Mystery Lover and in one part, she turned us around in...was it a museum?...anyway, the figures in the museum would make quick turns and movements. Made us both jump out of our chairs!

LOL!! I remember that!! I had to make sure I wasn't imagining it!!
Scratches was a scary game, i agree. It's up there with the top 3 most scary for me!
