Took a hike-- Pictures added-- 2-17

Here is a link to some pictures we took-- enjoy the three waterfalls the easy way-- meet my neighbors and friends Jim and Barbara and of course a few pictures of me... one clinging for life going down the side of the fall...and no it was not a smile of joy--- it was a grin of fear--lol

Big Basin


A couple of my friends asked me if I wanted to go on a hike with them to see some waterfalls. So the adventurist that I am said sure. So we left this morning and drove to Big Basin about 1 hours drive from my house. It is a beautiful park some of the biggest redwood trees you will see anywhere. We saw three waterfalls---- all were oh so beautiful the first was called Golden falls and rightly so. The rock was golden which made the water look like gold running down it. And at the bottom the rock was smooth and rolling-- next we climbed down to Silver Falls, again fantastic. We have been getting a lot of rain lately so this was perfect timing. So I started up to the left and the trail ended. Confused we hiked back up to the top of the canyon. No easy trip let me tell you when Jim said "The trail has to be down there." Well he went back down and came back up. He found it. While at the falls I noticed a cable running along the left side of the falls and I thought- hmmm they want to keep us from going there and falling. WRONG!!!! They wanted you to hold onto the cable and climb down the left side of the falls where there was some rock sticking out. Ok, yes, I did I held on for dear life and climbed down and yes I was afraid......... well another couple of miles there was another fall. This one was huge!!!!! Oh was it beautiful and at a certain angle for a short while you could see a rainbow. It was a beautiful day. The falls were spectacular. But the hike...... up and down canyons.... over some fallen redwood trees..... did I mention how bid a redwood tree is. Some of them were so round you had to lean over with your body and swing your legs over. We started the walk at about 8:45 am and finished at 4:30 pm ....did I mention how big the mountains are I am soooooo tired and my feet and legs are soooooo sore. I came home and took a shower and just stood there. I am now sitting at the computer....I may never stand up again Barbara took some pictures when she sends them to me I will share. :bounce:

That sounds fantastic and beautiful. Good for you (not good for your poor feet) Are you practicing for when you move to the hills of Tennessee? Would love to see the pictures (but not of your aching feet)

I live a hop, skip, and a jump from Niagara Falls and i hadly ever go! LOL! Not much of a hike for me.
The last time I went was at night and they put all these colored lights over the falls. It's very beautiful and very romantic!

Great pictures Winfrey. Whoever took them did a nice job. Being out in the woods, alone, can be so peaceful. While viewing the pictures I could actually smell the forest and hear the crackling of branches, rippling water and birds chirping. And if I close my eyes and think real hard I can almost hear the sounds of the dueling banjos in Deliverance. (inside joke)

And as far as your weather goes
