| Please don't rule out these fabulous games. They can be played in as 'casual' a way as can so-called modern 'Casual games'. Personally - and I know that's just me - I prefer them big time! Pop over to the Interactive Fiction section to see what's new and, I think, very exciting about these games. This thread in particular .......... Interactive Fiction Corner

| A long time ago someone gave me two text adventures. I can't remember what they were but one of them had something to do with a cave. I couldn't really get anywhere with either one of them. I hadn't really played any adventure games at that point. Now after playing a few adventures I wonder if I could do any better with them I think I'll give one a try when I finish my current adventure. hatshepsut | |

| hats, There are many that involve a cave - especially earlier ones. But it could be you were playing Adventure by Microsoft. I write about it on page 1 of the Mad For Text! section of Adventure Point. so many times we get disillusioned by the fact that we start on a bad, or difficult, example of a game type. 'Adventure', or 'Colossal Cave', was an absolute ground breaker of its time but, believe me, it's not a perfect example of how enjoyable Text Adventures can be. In fact, it was downright difficult and very unforgiving whilst, at the same time, paving the way for all the fantastic Text Adventures (Zork and all the Infocoms), that followed. If that's the one you were given to try, believe me, there are many, many different Text Adventures out there. Try and go by the ones I recommend, and it'll be a good start for you. But I'm sure more experienced Text Adventurers will be able to give you better advice than I. Games such as Trinity, Wishbringer, A Mind Forever Voyaging, etc., are supposed to be amazing, and yet, I haven't found time to play them YET. Keep me posted on any you play, hats, okay? and recommend a few to me along the way. | |
