Snakes of Avalon - Soundtrack RELEASED!

Hey everyone,

Sorry for my long absence. It was mostly caused by pretty selfish reasons - I was making a new adventure game called Snakes of Avalon.

We finally released Snakes of Avalon. In late September instead of July or August, but the additional time went into making the game better.

We wanted our game to be different from the adventure games out there and I think we managed to tell a truly unique story.

In Snakes of Avalon you become a hallucinating, incapacitated drunkard in a seedy bar who overhears a woman planning together with her lover to murder her husband. So what are you going to do about it? You can barely walk without falling down.

The game is surreal, grotesque, might be a bit gross, but less so than Leisure Suit Larry or Monty Python and those are universally loved.

This game looks great ... and long as well! There are some great AGS games out there

Others might like it, Snakes might be right up your alley, people, but for me personally, it's not my candy.

I'm really glad to see some reactions in this thread, even if there are no detailed impressions yet.

I want to make more games in the future so any honest feedback is priceless to me - regardless if positive or critical.

AlienBZ, can you elaborate on what makes it so? I'm not going to hold it against you - I'm a critic myself and I'm not always positive about the games I review either. Also, Snakes was chosen as one of 6 best freewares of September by PC Gamer and it already had some really nice reviews, so it's not like I can be overwhelmed by an universally negative response at this stage.

But like I said, any feedback, any direct impressions from the players will be priceless for my quest to become better and more successful designer in my future efforts.

Is this a Windows only game? It looks like it might be fun, but I'm a Mac user.

At the moment it's Windows only.

However, there's a strong possibility I will prepare a MAC version in a few days.

But I'm still exhausted after development, have little free time now, and never tried doing such a conversion before, so I can't say when it will be ready exactly.

Well, keep us posted if you do, Igor, and congratulations on your Windows release!

Unfortunately, the Mac version didn't work out - so far the process I used for creating seems a disappointment. Consequently, I encourage everyone to try to run the PC version as the Mac version is starting to look really demanding time wise and I'm not sure if it will happen this year.

On the bright side, I have near-future plans for translating Snakes to Polish and German (maybe Italian too) and starting to work on a new adventure game.

It's not my type of candy b/c the graphics are cartoony and the gameplay environment gives you an overhead view as you play the game. Personally, I like my game's graphics to be photorealistic (such as dating back to some DOS games that featured 256 colors) and I like the characters (and the scenery) in games to be at my eye-level, whether the gameplay is 1st person or 3rd person.

It's sorta like finding hard candy or soft-filled candy when the only candy one likes is solid milk chocolate candy.

Glad to read the explanation of what you meant earlier, AlienBZ. Originally I understood it in such way that you tried playing the game and something turned you off.

Hey, we're right before a release of the game's official soundtrack as a kind of Christmas gift to the game's fans, and I wanted to ask if anyone is interested that I alert you in this thread when it happens?

I think what we've got is quite special (Thomas Regin is a professional composer with classic adventure game titles on his resume), so I want to link to it only in places where I feel it would be appreciated rather than spread the news everywhere.
