Is Coven Canceled?

My link to the web site is no longer active and a member at Adventure Gamers Forum has said they contacted the developer, Arberth Studios and he was told they are no longer working on the game. Would be a shame if it is canceled as the did so well with their first release, Rhiannon and I was looking forward to this next game. Anyone know more?

GreyFuss the last I knew was that Coven was on indefinite hold. I will try to get an answer whether it is on hold or canceled.

I was really looking forward to Coven.

GreyFuss Coven was on hold for awhile ( in part due to the collapse of Lighthouse Interactive ). Arberth Studios is currently working on new graphics, music and the story. At this time they have no release date.

I hope that Coven will release at some point. Sucks to have put some much time and effort into a project (that sounded good) and then not have the world see the finished product.

I'm reviewing my list of released and upcoming games that I keep, and it saddens me to see more and more adventure games with a big ??? when it comes to releasing or not. I'm most upset with the fact that 'The Book of Unwritten Tales' may never see a proper English language boxed release. Heck, at this point I'd be happy with a digital download purchase option. I just want to play it!

Really? Wonder why Lighthouses collapse would have anything to do with it since they weren't making the game. And why would they have to start completely over with new graphics, music and story.

GreyFuss I am assuming that the problem with Lighthouse Interactive going under was that they were the publisher. The new graphics, music story is due to a changed market and adventure gaming preferences.

Right...they were the publisher not the developer. So I don't see why that would cause them to start all over.

Only thing I can think of is that the game's been delayed so much that someone decided the graphics looked too "dated." The Coven developers may have been told this by prospective new publishers. Or it's possible that they were told they needed a 360 degree panoramic instead of snapshot style gameplay. That would require new graphics too.

If that's true, it's too bad. I like snapshot style. It's usually easier to find objects in a still screen than in a screen that can rotate in all directions.

Yes a lot of time passed between the Lighthouse Interactive collapse causing Coven to go on hold and finding a new publisher. The game market has changed during that time and the developer felt they needed to do some reworking on graphics to meet the demands of the game market. The new publisher more than likely had changes that they wanted also.
