This morning.....

Just came back from feeding the horses.... groomed and rode Cassie. It was awesome... not to cold... the wind was blowing... Cassie was in a great mood.... all went well until the rain started... then we both decided to come on in..... love those horses..

What a lovely way to start the day. Except for the rain it sounds very enjoyable.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the horse so much winfrey. I've been reading sad tales in the newspaper about how many people in California (and I guess other states also) are giving away their horses or just abandoning them to fend for themselves. The cost of hay is skyrocketing plus care/shelter/maintenance has always been high.

Lakerz, the problem is everywhere. As many here know, I do volunteer work at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch which is the large animal rescue facility for the state of Missouri. We have done several rescues of horses which have simply been abandoned. Of course, there are always the cases of intentional neglect and starvation, but we are also getting more surrenders due to lost jobs etc. We got 14 horses from Arkansas about 5 weeks ago that the ASPCA had rescued from deplorable conditions. That state doesn't have a facility like ours, so we took them. It never seems to stop...

Sounds like you had a good time Win. I love horses, but I would never attempt to ride one, not with my back the way it is. Has Thor gone for a ride yet, he'll probably never want to get off.
