Lucius Empty
PostSubject: Lucius   Lucius EmptySun May 08, 2011 1:24 pm

Plot:
Lucius is the son of the devil who has to clear the mansion of it’s residents. To do this he must orcastrate “accidents” without anyone suspecting him of any foul play. The player starts as Lucius and must cleverly devise these incidents from simple household items. Every time he succeeds he will gain supernatural powers to help him take full control.

His growing supernatural powers may be used in various ways. He will eventually become able to control objects and people with mind power, move objects around without touching them. Lucius even has the incredible mind power to dictate weak people into causing destruction and pain.

He was born 6th of June in 1966 and when he had lived his sixth year on earth, he finally started to show signs of his true origin.

The mansion is full of unrevealed mysteries that paint a story behind the family and how it became tangled with evil, but what is already clear is that Lucifer had taken the soul of the boy and replaced it with his own blood.

It's up to you to see that he can't be stopped....

The spiritually squeamish may want to look away, as Lace Mamba Games today announced a truly devilish new adventure called Lucius.

Produced in partnership with Finnish developer Shiver Games, Lucius casts players as the "son" of the devil who must rid a mansion of its inhabitants. In order to succeed, the boy will need to devise evil schemes using only common household items that will cast no suspicion on himself.

It all started so well, as Lucius was raised from a babe in a luxurious home by his wealthy parents, further spoiled by servants, a family butcher, and a private tutor. But on the eve of his sixth birthday, Lucious learns in a dream of his real father: the Devil. Now it's up to the boy to become an earthly agent of evil, and "equipped with supernatural powers, Lucius starts off to a blood-flooding tour of horror through his house, using hell's powers of telekinesis and mind control to orchestrate deadly accidents that will minimize the population of the manor one by one by one..."

Being demonic has its advantages, however, as Lucius possesses supernatural powers that enable him to "control objects and people with mind power, move objects around without touching them. Lucius even has the incredible mind power to dictate weak people into causing destruction and pain." Along the way, players will uncover the mansion's many secrets that reveal why and how it's become so "tangled with evil".

Lucius is currently scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2011. In the meantime, be sure to check out the game's official website.

I wouldn't play this game, let alone buy it. IMO, I think this is a horror/dark themed adventure game gone too far - in the wrong direction. But if you guys this such a game is ok, well suit yourself.

Anyway, I'd like to hear all of your opinions on anticipating playing this game, Pointers, so post away!

ABZ of course this is just my opinion but I don't see how it has gone to far. Lucius is an adventure horror game and like all adventure games you have a mission. In this case it's to discover a curse and stop it. Lucius is a horror game and like all horror games it is dark themed. Most horror games deal with the devil, the occult, curses, and other dark things. Considering some of the horror games you have played or are planning on playing I really don't see the objection to Lucius.

Right - and it's up to the gamer to discover the curse's power source or "secret" and put a stop to the curse? That's something an Angel of Our Creator can do.

Well, yes, I'll admit to playing games such as Harvester, the Black Mirrors, Barrow Hill, etc, and although I'm interested in playing Bracken Tor, I will not play games such as D, Lucien, and I may even try to sell the Darkseed games that I'm receiving as a trade, or perhaps trade these Darkseed games at a later time after they arrive as I really have no intention of playing the Darkseed games - aren't they about a person that has a monster growing in his/her brain?

1. If you don't like horror games that's ok. It just makes me curious when someone says they won't play a certain game yet play games that are well just as horror filled or worse than the game in question.

2. Darkseed is a scifi/horror game. Once again you are playing to save the world and mankind. Scifi games also more often than not have a very dark theme dealing with the same things you deal with in horror games.

3. What is wrong with D ? I have played it many times over the years and I can't think of anything objectionable about.

Years ago I bought D I believe, at a computer show that I went to with the intention of playing it. It came in a big box and on the box cover was a face that blood coming from the eyes, it looked like the girl on the box shot was either crying blood or blood was seeping out of her eye sockets. And it so happened that Mom saw the box and she told me that this was a "sick" game. When Mom told me that, her remark caused me to not want to play the game ever again (after I did install it and played about 10 minutes or so of the game at a time in my life when I was using my computers in our basement since it was roasting hot up in my office). But of course, this was about 11 years ago or so when I was about 46 - 47, and Mom (who is not a gamer, except for her daily Solitaire PC game - that's the **only** game that she plays), so I reckon Mom (as well as other people of her generation as well as some younger folks who may be only causal gamers or computer-illiterate people) doesn't understand the stories (and player missions) behind the games that we gamers play, and even if she did, I believe she would refuse to play horror games - she might play games such as the Myst series, for example, adventure games that do not have an element of horror in them.

Furthermore, b/c we are currently living in the End Times as described in the Holy Bible, this is why I don't mind playing games that deal with horror, so long as my quest (according the the game's parameters) is to put an end to the unbroken curses that these games talk about - as a ministering angel of the Lord who came as a visitor (sometimes accompanying another angel or more angels) to said planet/country/city, and we angels become solid so we can interact with the physical game environments.

I have my limits when it comes to horror games, and Lucius is way outside of those limits. I'm not a big fan of horror games, but I do play some, sometimes by accident. For example, I didn't know Dark Fall: The Journal was a horror, scary game when I played it, I thought it was just totally boring! Anyway, I am not the least bit interested or intrigued by playing as a child in what looks like a gore-fest horror game.

D is probably one of the most beautiful and stunning boxes I've ever seen. It is one of my most prized boxes. As for the game itself what does the imagery of the box suggest to you. Where else do we see large red D's or blood coming from the eyes or mouth ? I myself love a good vampire or Dracula game. Considering some games that were released around the time of D (it was actually released in 1995) and some games that have been released since then, D is really quite tame in comparision.

Trailer looks good but it reminds me a lot of Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy. I fear that this will be keyboard controlled with possibly some action. Anyone know more?

GreyFuss the co founder of Shiver Games says '' that even though he wouldn't describe it as point and click, point and click will work in most cases. It is a fully interactive environment where most of the objects react to you and you can manipulate, carry and move''

Well that pretty much confirms that it is not a point and click game as I have heard that before.

Thanks Hat

I'm having trouble reading this announcement with all the horizontal scrolling.
Would it be possible to break up that "-----" part into smaller segments?

My resolution is 1920x1200.
But I do not keep my browser full screen because it's hard to read long horizontal lines of type. This is what that webpage looks like

Lucius Picturefrompost

The only thing keeping the webpage so wide is that unnecessary line of -----'s.
Is it such a problem to ask that it be shortened?

Hi Gruefeeder

I am not so sure that the problem is on this end. My screen looks fine except for the picture you posted of how yours looks. I am no tech person but since no one else has mentioned this it may be on your end. What browser are you using and did you try to reduce the size of your font to see if that would bring it back to normal?

The size of posts seems to vary from those that fit to those that I have to scroll to see the end. I think maybe it happens when posting as I now have to scroll sideways to see the end of this sentence and it is very annoying to say the least, but I don't know what went wrong.

You may want to adjust your monitor's resolution to possibly 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 , if you are able . What you use as a resolution on your monitor is up to you . Depending on your OS (Xp , Vista , Win 7 ) , the process to change the resolution is painless .

For XP : Right click on your screen , go to Properties . Then go to Desktop Background . There will be a slider that you can adjust you monitor's resolution . For Vista & Win 7 : Right click , go to Personalization . Then go to Desktop Background . The slider adjustment will be there .

As to what may have happened , it may just be a fluke . Try the above first , see what happens .

Sorry , I should've asked earlier . Have you tried to maximize your browser (button in the middle on the top right ) ? Also , is surfing the net the only time this happens ?

I've already said that my resolution is 1920x1200. It doesn't go any higher.
And I don't care to maximize my browser so that the start of the line is almost 2 feet from the end.
I have its width at a size I can confortably read. I don't know why it's a problem to delete a few ----'s
from a post so it will display properly but maybe this will show you what it's like

EDITED out the ---'s on May 21

Unless your browser somehow manages to break that up into separate lines, maybe you'll see what I see.

gruefeeder when you open your window down in the right hand corner there is a magnifier. Have you inadvertantly hit the magnifier perhaps ? I believe the correct setting should be 100 %.

mindysue your current problem with scrolling is due to the oversized screen shot that was just posted.
