Has anyone played or know if this is the ending of Mission 9? Or maybe someone knows where I can find a walkthrough as I can't locate one thru my usual channels.

GreyFuss I haven't played the game but what you describe sounds more like a crash than an ending. But then there are some games that end rather abruptly giving you that huh what happened moment. I'll do some checking and see if I can find an answer for you.

GreyFuss I could find nothing about Mission 9 no walkthroughs, reviews or patches. I did find these two brief descriptions of the game. Not much help but maybe you can determine if you were at the end of the game.

Thanks tsampikos

Hats, I had seen both those links. This game is old and they may not have had the know how to end the game properly. Seeing as I think I completed what is described at Moby and returned to my original course as the games narrator stated. There was no game over screen. I can only assume...I am hoping someone has played or know more about the game to confirm this.

Quote :
You are aboard the DSC Littrow, a spaceship with an attached cargo ship of the Pentland Mining Group. You are on your way to Processing Plant 3 in orbit of Helicon 4, but it won't be an easy journey. You will be hit by an asteroid and attacked by an alien vessel. Your main power conversion chamber will be damaged, so a new power cell is needed. With your scanners you will locate an alien planet, NPC-372, that has a compatible power source. After landing on the planet with your space tug, you have to find a way to enter a strange massive structure. The power cell is located deep below the structure and is guarded by a skull-like alien device. Only if you manage to bypass it and get the power cell, you will be will be able to continue your journey.

Thanks for looking into it Hats. And for the record Moby games has it wrong. They list it as third person when in fact it is first person.

Thanks tsampikos

I had seen that one also. Just doesn't seem like enough people have played this game for it to warrant even a review which might explain if the ending was abrupt. I tried emailing the company that I thought took over the company who made the game but I have not received an answer. I wonder how many copies were released and if there truly was a big box as seen at Moby.

GreyFuss, you may have better luck in trying to track down websites, blogs, or email addys for the individual people that developed this game. For example, Steve McCoy (according to the Adventure Point game database listing for Mission 9). I feel for ya though. I hate not knowing if I actually finished a game or not. Even a "You Win!" screen is okay before putting you back to the desktop. At the adventuregamers website, a bunch of people played through GAG together, and quite a number encountered a bug right before the ending played which exited the game to desktop. Kind of like you are describing, they weren't sure if that *was* the end or a bug. Turns out for them it was a bug. I hope you can find your answer. Maybe Gelert has played it? What about your friend who loaned you the game? Maybe you should write a review and mention in it your uncertainty about ever seeing the ending? Might get some feedback from the gaming community that way.

I have a copy, but it's hidden away somewhere in storage which doesn't help you much. Does your friend just have the game in JC and not box? I believe the copy I purchased is just JC also, but my memory is shaky. I think I bought it straight off the developers website years ago. Well, in any case, I'm glad you liked the game up until the end. The way the game's inventory works sounds kind of clunky. You can't view your inventory, but a voice will tell you what you have? Really?

Thanks Lakerz for the advice. The friend hasn't played the game either. I am going to look into tracking down some other names associated in the making of the game like you said. Very Happy

GF, do you actually have this game? If so, where did you get it? Can I buy (or trade you) it from you when you're done playing it, or if you don't want to sell/trade it ever, can I please borrow it from you?

Sorry ABZ, A friend let me play theirs. Good luck finding one as it is extremely hard to find...even Gelert doesn't look to have one.

Lakerz, why don't you get your copy out and play it to see if the same thing that happened to GreyFuss happens to you?

I'm quite curious to see why this happened to GF when he played Mission 9.

Spoiler:

I found the answer for you below.

Quote :
The end of the game is reaching Helicon 4. There is no bug/glitch or other artifact regarding the ending of the game.

AlienBZ, that is cool of you to find out the answer to the ending. Did the person you talk to say the game abruptly put you back to the Windows desktop after reaching Helicon 4?

I would play my copy, but like I said it is in storage with a whole heck of a lot of other stuff. Not knowing specifically where it is, I'd be spending all day (at least) trying to find it. Not so organized, I know. Embarassed
