The Story: Otto Hanover the owner of MKO Pictures is having a party for
the Annual Hollywood Monsters Awards Ceremony at his mansion.Sue
Bergman working as a reporter for The Quill newspaper is sent to the
party to interview the monsters and hopefully get a big scoop. Sue
disappears after following a lead for the big scoop. Ron Ashman a fellow
reporter working at The Quill is then sent to Hanover's mansion in
search of Sue.The search leads Ron to locations all over the world
and interactions with Hollywood Monster stars and other characters
before discovering the truth behind Sue's disappearance. The story
is good, funny, entertaining and enjoyable.
The Characters: Ron Ashman is the wise-cracking reporter from The
Quill who is sent to find the missing Sue. Ron is irreverent and
humorous, he is not above lying, stealing, squashing people with
boulders or kicking little girls in the river in order to get what
he wants. Ron is likeable and enjoyable to play. You will play
as Ron for most of the game.
Sue Bergman is your other playable character. You start the game
playing as Sue and play as Sue briefly towards the end of the game.
There are many other characters that you will interact with Otto
Hanover, Dracula, The Mummy and The Wolfman to name a few.
Voices and Music: The music was lively, upbeat and pleasant. It
was unobtrusive and stayed in the background. There are ambient
sounds that are also unobtrusive.
Voices: Hollywood Monsters was released in Spanish and Italian.
There is a patch that changes the text to English. With the English
text enabled there are no voices. The text is large enough to
read easily. The text stays on the screen for the most part
long enough to read. If you do miss part of it you can click
to talk again and choose the dialog that you missed. The translation was
very well done.
Puzzles: Are abundent and of several different varieties. Most
are inventory based, one riddle, one picture reconstruct
and one maze.Puzzles vary in difficulty but are mostly of a
medium difficulty.
Game Play: The is advanced through dialog and puzzle solving.
Game movement is point and click. There are no dead ends. You
can not die. I found no bugs or glitches.
Graphics: Hollywood Monsters is presented in a cartoon style.
Further thoughts: Hollywood Monsters is a humurous and fun little
game. The effort of downloading and patching is well worth the
20 some hours of fun and enjoyment.
Considering story, easy game play, well defined graphics, humor
and fun playing this game gets a four star.
