PostSubject: I've made a silly game   I've made a silly game EmptyFri Dec 23, 2011 11:10 am

Hatshepsut/Faust, if I'm not allowed to post this feel free to (re)move this post.

But anyway, I just made a silly little game in AGS called Night and Day.
I've been learning the scripting language somewhat, so for practise/exercise I've tried to do a little game that is set in Reality-on-the-Norm.

In case you have never heard of Reality-on-the-Norm (RON): in 2001 Ben Croshaw (5 days a stranger) created the first game set in RON and since then over 80 RON games have been made.
Most RON games are short and on the silly side and good fun, so I recommend trying out a couple. Well known developers like Dave Gilbert and Grundislav also made a few RON games.

The nice thing is that all the backgrounds and characters are free, so anyone can use them to add a new game to the series. That way I could concentrate on scripting and didn't have to deal with art (can't draw a matchstick man anyway).

So if you want to have a look, you can download the game here.
More info on Reality-on-the-Norm and download other RON games here.

BTW how do I make the above links to show in a different colour?

edit: so the links apparently only work when you are logged in.
Here are the direct links:

That's weird, when I'm logged in the links work (I get a hand cursor), but when I'm not logged in the links don't work.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Same here. When I'm logged out, there's no indication the links are links.

I'm curious if they're active links if they're posted as links when I'm logged out, or whether you have to copy and paste the links. So this is a test.

Edit:
I do have to copy and paste the links when I'm logged out. I assume this is a security feature. But I don't really understand the logic of why the links are available to logged in members and not when they're logged out.

Thanks HandsFree posting the game is is the right place. Smile

I love the 5 Days a Stranger series and the Ben Jordan series. I'm playing the 5 Days a Stranger again right now.

The inactive links when not logged is a safety feature to protect members.

I think it's a security feature , I don't think anyone has done anything wrong , so no worries there . Just to be sure , I did a copy/paste of the links here on one of my other browsers , & I had to copy/paste to see the links . I tried this same method , on other links from another forum where I belong . On the other links from the different site , I did not have to copy/paste .

Thanks for the verification of what I said about a security feature Hats !

Congrats HandsFree! RON games are always fun (and wacky).

I hope you reconsider and decide to go ahead and develop a Black Sect remake like you were thinking of before. I'd definitely play it.

Congrats Handsfree, when it comes to independents as far as I'm concerned there are no silly games. I love those Reality On Norm games they remind me of my old Sierra favs. Well done sunny
