I saw Carrie Fischer in her show Wishful Drinking in NYC. She was terrific, and she had some hysterical stories to tell about her movies, her "extended" family, and Hollywood.

What I want to know is how we're going to stay alive this winter.

This is probably one of those movies that I should have seen...but either never at all...or only in bits and pieces.

That was such a terrific movie, GF! Belushi and Blair Brown were so good together. They actually touted they could have been the next Tracy and Hepburn. Too bad Belushi had to die so young. He was a real talent.

I was surprised to have enjoyed that movie also. It wouldn't have been a movie I went to the theater to see but enjoyed it on TV. Also surprising was Belushi's acting in more of a dramatic role. Was this the only serious part he ever played?

Actually Continental Divide was classified as a romantic comedy....certainly not the usual Belushi fare, considering Animal House and Blues Brothers. So I suppose for him that was a dramatic stretch. It's not unusual to see comedic actors excel in dramatic roles. Many have said it's much harder to do comedy. That's why I enjoy and appreciate those actors that can excel at both.

Yes, and who would have thought that a couple of actors in Bosom Buddies and Welcome Back Kotter would go on to be terrific dramatic actors. Even Jim Carey impressed me in The Truman Show and The Majestic. I am not a fan of Carey's movies but I loved The Majestic a movie that doesn't get much notice.

No, it's not Continental Divide. It's an epic drama based on an historic event. The season is important.

Yes, it is Dr. Zhivago. I saw it at least 3 times in the movies. (It was one of the dates I had with Dave when I was a junior in high school.) It was very impressive on the big screen.

Lady Kestrel I have never seen it on the big screen but I have watched it on tv many times. It must be fantastic on big screen. Such a beautiful movie in so many places and so stark and harsh in other places.

jkeerie you should try to watch it from begining to end sometime. It's a very good movie but a little long.

It won a lot of awards, Lady K. I think I probably avoided it because of the length. I wasn't that patient in my youth.

It sure is, Hat!!! Another one of my favorites....and a very scary thriller, with some frightening images with all the shadows. Robert Mitchum was creepy in this one!
