| Alchemia set for retail release in UK Lace Mamba Global to publish Alchemia indie adventure. Lace Mamba Global has now officially announced they will publish Alchemiia in the UK this fall. This will be a boxed retail release.
Like the developer's freeware Haluz games, Alchemia puts players in the role of an unnamed protagonist, who destroys the body of a strange mechanical creature and must now venture deep into an underground city to find a robotic replacement. When he arrives in this hidden city, he finds people skilled in alchemy, but discovers to his horror that the way back is now closed. To help him fulfill his promise, players must sort through the correct interactive sequences and timing in order to proceed through the many screens full of unusual obstacles, both natural and mechanical.
There's a free playable sampler of Alchemia at the game's official website, and you can order the "extended version" with five additional levels and nine new locations for a small cost. The retail version coming soon is the same game as this full downloadable version.
The boxed version of Alchemia is due to hit store shelves in the UK on September 17th.

| Props to Lace Mamba for publishing a lot of these adventure games. I hope this game won't be too hard to locate for a USA purchase. | |

| I played 'Alchemia' a few months ago in its freeware format. It's very good. The music compositions are excellent too and Julian is a really nice chap. If you like the Samorost games, you'll like this. | |

| I played the first chapter and enjoyed it very much. I'm really looking forward to the release in retail.

| So does this game have to do with chemistry back in the olden times? If so, I'll be looking for a USA release - anyone know when the USA release is supposed to be?
Anyone know how much the game will cost at brick/mortar stores like Walmart/Best Buy?
Why do these neat games get released in the UK first and not get released worldwide at the same time??
EDIT - watched/played the demo on the game's website, really like the little guy with the real big nose. B/c he looks like a different sort of creature, this appeals to me - this guy may be an elf, maybe.
And when the game does get released here in the US - it'll be a full-version boxed copy, right?
This is a PC game, isn't it? Windows XP or 7? | |

| I am not so sure that Alchemia, Machinarium, Samorost and the like would be classified as Adventure games. More like Casual games to me or a hybrid platformer. But then I would also put Neverhood in that category too. | |

| I don't know GreyFuss. I would definitely say they're Adventure games. Categorization is very much subjective though. Not everything 'neatly fits', and that's what makes things all the more interesting when it comes to Adventure games. One thing they're not is 'shoot-em-ups'. How nice it is to like games that provoke interesting conjecture. | |
