Essential Inventory Items Found in Adventure Games

There are many essential inventory items one picks up in adventure games. Some are used to progress in the game. Some are picked up and never used. Some items are found in nearly every game we play. Let's make a list of inventory items and see how many different ones there are.

and usually some type of paper to put under the door to catch the key...

Yes those are all essential inventory items. I think there has been a crow bar and oil can in every game I've played

I'm tempted to say 'rubber chicken' and 'banana picker', but I'll say glue instead.

Glue is definitly an essential. I've picked up rubber chickens before too. But I don't remember ever using it for anything.

A pencil...either to shade the blank page on the notebook to see what was written...or to shatter for fingerprint dust.

A rope and some piece of metal that you have to make into a hook and then combine with the rope.

Yep rope, metal, key, screwdriver and cloth all essential items.
