Sounds nice lakerz. How does that 23" monitor make the games look ? I haven't hooked my new monitor uo yet. I've been reading some about L.A. Noir. Let us know about it and how you like it

The new monitor is great! I haven't installed any super hi res games yet to take advantage of the 1080p resolution, but it displays a very nice image for browsing and whatnot. I'm planning on installing Assassin's Creed tomorrow so that will be the first test. I'm also planning on reinstalling Bioshock 2. L.A. Noire will definitely get a look, but might not be for a while. I just couldn't pass up that price though for a game I knew I wanted to play.

My monitor conked out and went to black, so my husband bought a new one for me yesterday. He said all he could find was a widescreen Acer, so now I know what an Acer is. I don't much care for the widescreen, but I'm slowly making friends with it, I think. I spend a lot of time in my *computer world* so getting used to this whole new look is going to take some time. Actually, at present, I feel a little shell shocked, like I can identify with troops coming home from Iraq.

I have a Dell and to tell the truth I'm not that crazy about it. I don't like this monitor, it doesn't seem to matter how much you turn up the brightness it's still dark and some objects in those HOG games are hard to see. Had I known hubby was buying me a Dell I would have told him, NO. I've read about a lot of people having trouble with them. But then again a lot of people love them. Although I am in the market for more memory. With all the memory sucker programs I run I need the max

Me, at least, I'm crazy about the Dell XPS M1530 laptop that I bought this past April. In fact, I believe it's my XP Sweet Spot, regarding ideal XP specs for running older to some of the latest releases that are capable of running on XP.

A couple months ago, during a trip to Athens, I found something really interesting. In a small shop selling used magazines, books, music CDs, etc, I saw a pile of old PSX games.

“How much for the Playstation games over there?” I asked the guy at the counter.
“Those? Only 15 Euros each! A bargain!”

“15 Euros! What a rip-off!” I told myself (15 Euros is around 12,5 GBP or $20). “That thievish son of....%$@*&# ...and he dares call it a bargain!”

Βut then again, it doesn’t hurt to take a look, does it?

Of course, most of the games were in poor condition. Broken jewel cases, missing manuals... And not only that, but they were not even worth the price of a chewing gum: Mr. Driller (that's a great title for a porn movie!), The Mission (would you guess that it’s actually a soccer game? And a pretty awful one for that matter!), Action Bass (a fishing simulator... I hate fish!), Caesar’s Palace 2 (no thanks... already lost my pants too many times in real casinos!), Project Overkill (wow, it sounds cool... until you play it!), Perfect Weapon (hey, I’ve played this one ... and it sucks ), Clock Tower, Area 51, Radical Bikers...

WAIT A MINUTE! What was that? Clock Tower!?

I opened the jewel case and it was complete with its printed manual and in pretty good condition for a used game of its age (save for that sticker on the front). I’ll be damned!





I assure you that Clock Tower is one hard to find game, especially in its european PAL version. PAL versions are usually quite expensive on british ebay so 15 Euros for a complete retail copy in good condition may be very well considered a bargain! I would have bought it without second thoughts!

But of course, being a cheap bas...rd, I didn’t miss the opportunity to lower the price! So, trying to hide my excitement, I walked to the counter and asked the guy:

-How about 10 Euros for this?
-Ehhh... I’m not sure......
-Well, I’m not sure either. These games are really old... they might not even work...
-OK, let’s say... hmmm... 12 Eur...
-Deal!

Very nice buy emmanuel5 I've been looking for Clock Tower for a long time. Very hard to find. I've seen it on ebay a couple of times but it sold for quite a bit. I have Clock Tower II and III.

I've recently purchased Dead Space 2 , Hydrophobia , & A Stroke of Fate from Steam .

Excellent indeed emmanuel5. I'd have snapped it up too.

Just for info., I had Action Bass ........ It's not very good.

P.S.; Let me know if you see a boxed 'Erevos' or an 'Opsys' in any of those Greek bargain bins won't you?! lol!

Thank you very much for your comments. I was really lucky with this one, as “Clock Tower” is not an easy game to come by, especially in good condition and complete with case and manual (I bought a lottery ticket the same afternoon, thinking it was my lucky day, but… rats). I was really surprised to find this gem under all that pile of junk!

hatshepsut, I also have “Clock Tower 3” on PS2 but never had the chance to play “Clock Tower 2”, as it was never released in PAL format (as far as I know).

As for “Erevos” and “Opsys”, Gelert, you never know… just like it happened with “Clock Tower”, sometimes you may come across a rare game when you least expect it!

Cool! I've heard a lot of good things about Clock Tower, sounds like my kind of game. I still own a PS1 too, so I could play it (if I can find it). Nice find, and thanks for posting pictures!

Can anybody point me to which page of this massive thread it was where Ang posted the box cover for 'Romantic Blue'? I tried looking through all the pages but am missing it somehow! I could swear it was this thread but then again maybe not. It's such a rare game....I wanted to save that picture for my archives. I'd really like to own a copy but that might be tougher than winning the lottery.

Welcome back GF ! The long & short of things is , the original thread was hijacked by posts & people for which the thread was not intended , so, Gelert has split things in to games & non game threads . Our beloved "spend , spend' thread is the same , it just had a baby , more or less .

Just d/l Shine of a Star a week ago, haven't played it yet.

EDIT - Just d/l the demo for Corrosion Cold Winter Waiting. Wanted to d/l it and JULIA, during semester break, but am now (thanks to this Spend, Spend Game-buying thread here) I'm thinking I'd rather get the hard copy (discs) of both games. Will involve more time spent waiting, but...I don't care.

I just got 15 Days off of ebay last night . It had to come from a seller in the UK , so it will take a bit of time to arrive . I got the game for less than $20 , shipped . It is brand new .

Nice purchase Faust. Show us a picture when it arrives . Hopefully it won't take too long to arrive.
